Since many of my interests involve the quest for knowledge, I naturally turned to teaching as a way to help others discover their own interests and intelligence. I graduated from American University with focuses in psychology, political science and international relations, and religious studies. I have worked as an educator for more than 8 years, which ties in with my interest in eventually working in conflict resolution between radicalized groups. I began tutoring upper class level high school students while a freshman in high school myself, when the school allowed me to participate in the upper level Western Philosophy class. That experience reinforced how much I enjoy teaching, tutoring, and working closely with others. I have experience with tutoring both individuals and large groups - I worked recently as a teaching assistant to a psychology and neurology class of more than 140 college freshmen. I also tutor in a wide variety of subjects, as well as preparation for standardized testing. Throughout my tutoring sessions, I like to establish milestones, so my students, along with their parents, can see when they reach academic goals. Their success helps motivate them to continue to progress. For fun, I like to do a variety of things, including (but certainly not limited to): going to the theater, gaming, hiking, biking, cooking, role playing, and traveling.
