Experience
I studied at Boston University in the Creative Writing department. From the mid-eighties to early-aughts, I worked at Bradford College teaching in the Humanities department. I acted as the director of the Center for Critical Discourse at Bradford, in addition to teaching courses in poetry craft and literature, American Lit, and critical inquiry. I've taught at a number of higher education institutions, including Emmanuel College, North Shore Community College, Bay Path College, Quinnipiac University, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of New Haven, and, presently, MassArt-Boston. At these institutions, I've taught creative and academic writing, directed a bridge program and two writing programs, and worked as a leader of faculty development programs. Outside of teaching, I'm a passionate writer and poet, with numerous publications. My poetry is widely-published, and I have three books out, including The Apple in the Monkey Tree, Voyeur, and Americana. Two of my books have won awards, and I have a number of chapbooks published by small presses (Finishing Line, Ahadada, BlazeVox, etc.). I've also had much of my recent critical and scholarly writing published with a variety of venues, including anthologies, the International Journal of the Humanities, Imaginary Syllabus, Palm Press, Reconfigurations: A Journal of Poetry & Poetics, among others.
